"What is the PICC fee?"

PICC stands for Presubscribed Interexchange Carrier Charge.  We like to call it the "The Making - Local - Phone - Companies - Filthy - Rich Tax."  To spread out the costs of providing telephone services, the Communications Act of 1996 as written by Congress and interpreted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) created the PICC, a surcharge on your long distance usage which must be sent to your local telephone company.

If you, like us, are opposed to being taxed and taxed and taxed on your communications bills, we encourage you to contact your Members of Congress and the Federal Communications Commission.

"How will the PICC affect me?"

The charge is based on the type of client you are, and the number of lines you have in each of your locations. GLOBALnet collects the following:

-- For residential clients, we're pleased to report that the PICC has been eliminated! (Before you get excited, this line item has been moved from your long distance bill to your local phone bill... so you're still paying it... just not through us.)

-- For business clients, if you have only one line, there is no charge. If you have more than one line, we collect $4.25 per line.
